During the war in Bosnia, two childhood friends end up becoming enemies as the tragic and devastating circumstances of the war put them on opposite sides and expose the most gruesome and cruel aspects of the human nature.
The story begins in the Belgrade military hospital where the wounded men of the war in Bosnia are sheltered. In the hospital, the movie heroes remember their youth and the war. The movie takes you then to the period of twelve years earlier, during the war in Bosnia, where Milan, trapped in a tunnel with his comrades, and Halil are on opposite sides, fatefully rushing into the conflict. Among the exhausted Serbian fighters was a stray American journalist.
The film was a Serbian candidate for the Oscar, for the Best International Feature Film for 1996. It is considered a modern classic of Serbian cinematography.
