Movie MONTEVIDEO, GOD BLESS YOU! (2010), Director Dragan Bjelogrlić

The main story of the movie revolves around the historic success of the Yugoslav national team in Montevideo in 1930 at the first ever FIFA World Cup and the team reaching the semi-finals, as well as the personalities of the young footballers, who with their enthusiasm and talent contributed to the path towards the championship.
The time frame of the movie is from the ending days of 1929 to the beginning of September 1930 when football players, great national heroes, through the story of the cultural and social events of that time, initially in Belgrade, struggle with the dramatic everyday life of poor, but moreover uncorrupted football players on one side – and the Belgrade, and Yugoslav bourgeoisie on the other.
The story follows their lives, personal problems, the collision created by the desire to prove themselves in sports as opposed to the established city life, customs and the need for work and survival that Belgrade and Yugoslavia were set in between the two world wars.
